Census Link Converter

The National Archives of Ireland has a collection of census records from various years including 1901 and 1911. In early 2025, the format for searching and browsing these records was changed. The National Archives have stated that any links to records created before this change will no longer work. This tool will convert the old links to the new format.

One major change is that in the new format it is not possible to make a direct link to a specific household return record. What this converter will do is check if a record is a household return and if it is, it will find the "Head of Family" for the household and make a link to that person. It is then possible to select the Household tab that will also include all other household members.
